In an effort to develop the career goals of aspiring facilities and operations managers, MECSC has teamed up with the Property Council of Australia to run a two day workshop on Essential Skills for Operations and Facilities Management that will look at ways of improving and streamlining day-to-day building operations. To be held from September 20-21, 2006 at the Sofitel Hotel in Dubai, the workshop will be conducted by Duncan Waddell, Managing Director, FM Intelligence Pty Ltd, Australia, and a leading international authority on facilities management.
“With facilities managers being responsible for many of the buildings that support a variety of significant businesses and organisations, it has gained importance as one of the fastest growing professions. This course is aimed at providing an understanding of building services and maintenance, occupational health and safety, environmental aspects associated with property, emergency response planning and other areas of interest to facilities managers, “said Waddell.
The workshop will also discuss current issues like ecologically sustainable development that recognizes greenhouse, water and waste management issues impacting on property and evaluate trends in environmental performance reporting and accountability.
The programme is offered under license by the Property Council of Australia and upon completion, delegates will receive a Certificate of Attendance and be eligible to enroll for a 3 day Diploma Program in Operations and Facilities Management.
“The Essential Skills workshop will provide an overview of the present issues facing facility managers with a view to establishing best practice systems at work. Operations managers, contractors, property engineers, maintenance managers and anyone interested in a career in facilities management will benefit from this workshop and Waddell’s vast experience in international management, “said Kim Redman, Regional Director for the MECSC.
