About 1,500 people were evacuated from a Mecca hotel after a room caught fire Monday, AFP reported, as hundreds of thousands made the trip to Islam's holiest city for Hajj.
The Saudi civil defense department told state news agency SPA the fire injured four Yemenis in the 15-story building and was likely caused by a short circuit.
This was the second hotel fire in a week that forced pilgrims out of their hotel. On Thursday 1,000 visitors were evacuated from a high-rise hotel in Mecca.
Nearly two million Muslims are expected to make the annual pilgrimage this year, according to AFP.
The holy city was recently struck by tragedy when a crane collapsed onto Mecca's Grand Mosque, killing 108 people.
