MBRPLD concludes Leadership Styles Workshop for participants of Government Leaders program
Executive coaches facilitate 3600 Feedback Session to identify leaders' blind spots and create deeper understanding of leadership behaviour
Mohammed Bin Rashid Program for Leadership Development (MBRPLD), an innovative leadership program designed to develop future national leaders capable of promoting the sustainable development of Dubai, has recently concluded the Leadership Styles Workshop at the Dusit Hotel – Dubai from June 23 to 25, 2008. The activity involved 33 participants of the Government Leaders program and provided a deeper understanding of leadership behaviour and performance through the 3600 Feedback Session.
A team of executive coaches led by Roger Lehman, Programme Director and Executive Coach of the INSEAD Global Leadership Centre, facilitated the comprehensive workshop, which helped participants consolidate their strengths and identify areas that can be potentially developed. The three-day workshop also included preparatory activities prior to the 3600 Feedback Session, as well as inputs on collaborative leadership and situational leadership, among others.
"Feedback-oriented workshops are important for leaders to better understand their strengths and weaknesses, particularly from different perspectives. Essentially, it helps them see potential blind spots and act on these issues appropriately. The 3600 Feedback Session was customised to help the Government Leaders program participants gain a more objective assessment on their actual leadership behaviour, in accordance with their roles within Dubai Government," said Adel Al Shared, MBRPLD Director and Executive Council Director of National's Development.
The Leadership Styles Workshop devoted a full day for the 3600 Feedback Session, which is a structured process that generates critical information relevant to a person's leadership behaviour by comparing their self-perceptions with those of their managers, peers or executive trainers. The feedback session was also fine tuned to suit the specific demands of the work environment within Dubai Government.
"Feedback facilitates constructive dialogue within an organisation and it greatly helps in promoting positive changes and establishing an open and network-oriented culture within the organisation. As such, I believe this activity is an important component in the training process of potential leaders of a dynamic and energetic work environment such as Dubai Government. The activity also has a huge impact on the participants, enabling them to better handle relationships within the organisation and helping them establish a balance between work and personal life," concluded Al Shared.
The 3600 Feedback Session has been one of the various innovative training activities prepared for participants of the Government Leaders program. Other initiatives under the Government Leaders program include mentoring, personal development plan, book review sessions, one-on-one training program, study visit program and a series of workshops.
MBRPLD is an innovative leadership program designed to develop the professional expertise of prospective and incumbent leaders. It has likewise been established to ensure long-term, systemised leadership development, with a particular focus on government department leaders through the Government Leaders program.
