Mawared wins “best award of future residential project” at cityscape 2008 in abu dhabi

The National Resources Investment and Development Corporation (MAWARED) triumphed once again to the top during Cityscape 2008, which was held between may 13 – 16 in Abu Dhabi, by receiving the international award for "Best Future Residential Project" for its first international venture, the Cap Juby project in Tarfaya, Morocco.

During a ceremony and gala dinner held in the presence of 400 guests at The Emirates Palace Hotel, Engineer Akram Abu Hamdan, General Director of Mawared was granted the prestigious award in honor of the exceptional contribution to world architecture culture, invention and imagination, respect for people and environmental awareness in the emerging and developed countries throughout the Middle East and North Africa. This Cityscape award is considered among the most prominent prizes granted globally in the field, judged by a panel of internationally acclaimed industry professionals assembled to judge the entries.

Mawared’s Cap Juby Project, located in Tarfaya – Morocco, was also nominated for three awards during the event, competing with leading international and regional developers. Namely the nominations were; Best Waterfront Development Award, Best Retail Project Award, and the Best Future Residential Project Award.

The winning Moroccan project is an ambitious development estimated at 2 billion USD, and is a mixed use project being developed on a 2.5 million sqm land. Cap Juby is oriented towards tourism and regrouping hotels, residential units, commercial facilities, and leisure and entertainment facilities (restaurants, cafés & pubs, casinos, museums, aquatic and desert activities …etc) situated on the Atlantic coast of southern Morocco.

Akram Abu Hamdan, General Director of Mawared said during the award ceremony: “Mawared has always been at the forefront of real estate development in Jordan and today we started imprinting the region with award winning projects, exporting with that the knowhow and vision that Jordan has to offer to the region. Cap Juby is our first project outside the scope of Jordan and we are extremely proud to receive this encouragement in the form of a prestigious award”

It is important to note that this award follows Mawared's receiving of an array of international prizes at Cityscape – Dubai in 2006, Cityscape – Abu Dhabi 2007, The CNBC Arabian Property Awards, and other acclaimed events. To name a few of Mawared’s award winning projects; the Living Wall in Wadi Saqra, Amman, (winner of the “Best Design & Architecture” Award – Cityscape 2006 & winner of the “CNBC Arabian Properties Top Architectural” Award), the Princess Salma Housing Estate Project – first phase – within the King Abdullah Bin Abdel Aziz City in Zarqa (winner of the “Best Design & Architecture” Award – Cityscape 2006), The "Souq Bab Al-Madina" Project  within the King Abdullah Bin Abdel Aziz City in Zarqa (winner of the “Best Developer Award for Retail Projects” – Cityscape 2007), as well as the Queen Alia International Airport renovation and expansion project (winner of the “Best Design & Architecture” Award – Cityscape 2006).
