The Dubai Autodrome will host the final California Superbike School Day before the summer on Tuesday March 28, 2006. The school is expecting a lot of extra participants from all around the Gulf this time around, as the Dubai Bike Week is scheduled to be held soon after the event.
The school will be for level 1 (new participants), level 2 and level 3 students (for those with previous school experience). Requirements are: a road/track-worthy bike in good condition, leather trousers, leather jacket, leather boots and leather gloves and a full face approved helmet (no other material other than leather for the 1 or 2 piece suit will be allowed). And of course a valid bike license!
Touring bikes and cruisers are also welcome, if it has 2 wheels and an engine and you want to corner it better! The name of the school might suggest that it’s a school for superbikes, but the techniques offered will benefit all types of road bikes and riders.
The school director and classroom teacher Andy Ibbott has been the private trainer of last year's 125cc GP World Champion Thomas Luthi. This year Andy will again be working with Thomas and his Elite Grand Prix teammate, Sandro Cortese. Thomas Luthi is living proof that the techniques of the California Superbike School work. The best part is that these techniques do not only work for talented racers, they work for any type of rider with any type of bike.
The California Superbike School is all about cornering. The instructors at the school know what you do in a corner, what it takes to make it right, what can go wrong and they know how to fix it. That's what you'll get from the school sessions, a thorough understanding of the tools and techniques that allow you to discover the art of cornering.
A day at the California Superbike School starts at 7am with registration and ends at 5:30pm with a debrief. The course commences with a classroom briefing, comprising of riding techniques for better cornering and gaining more confidence, followed by intensive hands-on instruction.
There are a maximum of 63 students on a day, split into 3 groups of 21 riders. Each lead instructor supervises 3 students per session, working with each one individually until progress is made. Riders go through five classroom sessions as well as five track sessions. After each of the track sessions, instructors give personal debriefs of the riders progress.
A Day at the School includes:
- Five 20-minutes on-track sessions
- Five technical classroom sessions
- Your own personal qualified instructor for the day
- The only fully cornering trained on and off track instructors in the world
- 23 years of research and development on cornering a bike
- The best cornering tuition on the planet
