ALBAWABA - Massive fires broke out in a forested area in rural Latakia and Tartus‎ cities in Syria, the country's Civil Defense revealed on Tuesday evening.

Syrian firefighting teams were able to extinguish all 20 fires which erupted in the countryside of Latakia and Tartus since yesterday evening, most of which were forest fires.

The latest one, which was put out by the White Helmets after 7-hour work, was on the Deir Hanna road in the countryside of Qardaha in Latakia Governorate at dawn on Wednesday.

Syria's Civil Defense posted a video on X and wrote: "A huge forest fire broke out in the forest area surrounding the town of Harf al-Musaytira in the Latakia countryside, on Tuesday evening, March 4."

"Our teams are working to extinguish it amid difficulties due to the mountainous terrain of the area and the strong wind speed," it added.
