Some 150,000 Israelis attended a leftwing demonstration in Tel Aviv on Saturday. The protest called on Israel to pull out from the Gaza Strip.
Opposition leader Shimon Peres said that 80 percent of Israelis want peace and only one percent is trying to block it. "We will not allow them," Peres said. "We must not support a puppet government that follows the delusional ideas of the right," Peres stated in a speech broadcast live by Israel's public TV.
The organizers of the demonstration said a public awakening has followed the bloody events in the Gaza Strip this week, which claimed the lives of 13 Israeli troops and at least 29 Palestinians. (Albawaba.com)
