Mashreqbank has hired 20 UAE National jobseekers registered with the National Human Resources Development and Employment Authority (Tanmia) and has commenced training for the second group of prospective Emirati employees.
To prepare the 20 fresh recruits for their new roles, they were given an intensive three-month on-the-job and classroom training programme conducted by the bank’s in-house trainers and professional mentors. The induction also included intensive English language training.
Earlier this year, Tanmia had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Mashreqbank whereby the bank would train UAE Nationals in banking and financial services and, on the successful completion of the training course, provide them with employment opportunities at the bank.
“Mashreqbank’s recruitment of 20 candidates registered with Tanmia comes as a huge boost to our efforts to provide maximum employment opportunities to Nationals, especially given that banking and finance have been among our core focus areas. The move reflects the wealth of National talent qualified to take up challenging professions,” said Essa Al Zaabi, Manager of Dubai Office, Tanmia.
“There is now heightened awareness among private sector companies about the many benefits of employing highly-skilled Emiratis and a growing number of firms from across the business spectrum are keen to induct qualified Nationals into their workforce. We hope Mashreqbank’s decision to hire National jobseekers to strengthen their business will inspire more companies to follow suit,” Al Zaabi added.
Salem Al Zubaidi, Head of Human Resources Division at Mashreqbank said: “Our partnership agreement with Tanmia compliments several other familiarisation and induction programmes we run for UAE Nationals. We take the business of Emiratisation very seriously and are prepared to invest heavily in vocational training to ensure the future generation has the highest level of professional skills.”
The training programme began with intensive classroom training followed by a month-long familiarization period to acclimatise the candidates to the various on-the-job requirements in the bank’s different sections. After successfully completing the course, the trainees were placed in various positions at Mashreqbank branches in Dubai and Sharjah.
“Tanmia has been actively pursuing its Emiratisation drive by partnering with a broad spectrum of companies in both the public and private sectors to facilitate on-the-job training, work place opportunities and vocational training for National candidates. Tanmia is focused on equipping National candidates with competitive skills and providing them with the best employment options,” Al Zaabi said.
About Tanmia:

The responsibilities that rest with the Authority are: to set up the overall policy of the Authority and supervise its implementation, conduct sustained operational and administrative labour market studies and analysis, provide career counseling and guidance to the national work force, follow-up and evaluate employment of nationals in public and private sectors, support small investment enterprises through the establishment of self-employment projects for national human resources and develop programmes for training and qualifying nationals seeking employment, in conformity with the labour market needs.
