Masafi named Brand of the Year

 

FMCG company wins top prize at Superbrands awards ceremony

 

Masafi, one of the region’s leading FMCG brands, has received top honors at the 5th annual Superbrand Awards.

 

Held at the Intercontinental Hotel in Dubai’s Festival City last night, the awards event was hosted by Superbrands, an independent authority and arbiter of branding.

 

Judged according to stringent criteria applied by a panel of around 3,000 individuals, Masafi won Superbrands’ highest award, being named Brand of the Year among over 1,100 leading locally-based and multinational brands also vying for the title.

 

Masafi won because of the strength of its brand within the UAE, which started with mineral water and has expanded across other categories of juices, tissues and gourmet chips. Its leading program of socially responsible initiatives, particularly its corporate recycling service, also helped Masafi secure the Brand of the Year’ award.

 

Just 64 candidates were short-listed from the initial pool of brands, with these candidates also receiving awards on the evening.

 

Commenting on the win, Ashraf Abushady, CEO of Masafi said: “Masafi is honored to be named the Brand of the Year by Superbrands – it is a privilege to be selected from among so many leading brands, both locally-based and multinational. This award is testament to our efforts to create and maintain a strong, reliable brand that has served the people of the UAE for such a long period”.

 

Masafi and other leading brands from across the UAE were selected by the Superbrands Council, comprising 12 local jury members and over 2,700 top executives from around the globe who cast their vote via the internet. Each Council member demonstrates exceptional aptitude in business and thorough knowledge of respective markets and methods employed.

 

Receiving Superbrand status is a powerful endorsement and evidence for existing customers, potential customers, the media, suppliers, investors and employees of each brand's exceptional status.

 

Only brands that achieve the level of recognition set by the independent Superbrands Council are eligible for inclusion in the Superbrands UAE book, which is produced annually and traces the history and achievements of each of the brands.
