ALBAWABA - According to a report by the Commission of Detainees Affairs, Palestinian prisoner Marwan Al Barghouti, along with several other prisoners, were severely assaulted by Israeli prison's special units earlier in September.
During a recent visit to the Megiddo Prison, a lawyer reported that Barghouti and several other prisoners were subject to brutal assaults by special Israeli units. Barghouti was attacked with tools of repression alongside severe beating.
The lawyer added that due to the attack, Barghouti suffered trauma to his ribs, and limbs, as well as bleeding in his right ear, a wound on his right arm, and back pain.
The lawyer added that during the visit, Barghouti was in recovery following the severe attacks by Israeli prison commanders during which he endured difficulties moving, chest and back discomfort, and infections in his wounds and ear as a result of the blood clot formed by the bleeding while being denied care or medicine.
Over the course of the last year, Barghouti has already been subjected to two cruel attacks and has been held in solitary confinement ever since. The first attack took place in December in Ofer Prison's isolation cells, followed by a second assault on March 6 in Megiddo Prison.
According to the Popular Campaign for the Release of Barghouti and the prisoners, the most recent attack in September, like the previous ones, occurred in the isolation area of Megiddo Prison and was marked by heightened severity intended to inflict serious and chronic physical harm.
The campaign urged international institutions and organizations to fulfill their obligations to safeguard Barghouti and other inmates in line with international law.
