“I’ve been unfaithful to my wife,” South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford said yesterday. Sanford had just returned from an unannounced trip to Buenos Aires, Argentina where he was visiting a long time friend with whom he had an affair.
Sanford had told his staff days after his disappearance that he was going for hike along the Appalachian Trail.
Sanford did not hesitate from the truth, and will face the guilt and consequences, saying, “I’m a bottom-line kind of guy. I’ll lay it out, it’s going to hurt, and we’ll let the chips fall where they may… all I can say is I apologize.
Over the past couple months, Sanford said he and his wife were having a “trial separation” but the Governor said he and Jenny Sanford were trying to save their marriage for the sake of their two children.
Governor Sanford has been mentioned as a possible Republican candidate for President in the 2012 election.
