ALBAWABA - Secretary of State Marco Rubio is expected to leave the United States on Sunday to Saudi Arabia to discuss Ukraine.

The trip comes as US President Donald Trump wants to decide whether to keep the military aid halted or should he resume it. On March 4, Trump announced halting all military aid and intelligence support for Ukraine after President Volodymyr Zelenskyy refrained from agreeing to the mineral deal with the US.

After Saudi visit, the Secretary of State will attend the Group of Seven (G7) meeting in Canada amid trade war between the two countries and the exchanged tariffs.

In Jeddah, Rubio will remain for three days where he will discuss how to "advance the president's goal to end the Russia-Ukraine war," said State Department spokeswoman Tammy Bruce.

The talks, which will start on Tuesday, will involve Rubio and Trump's national security advisor, Mike Waltz, and Zelensky's national security advisor and foreign and defense ministers.

"The fact that they are coming here at senior levels is a good indication to us that they want to sit down and they're ready to move forward," AFP reported citing a senior State Department official.
