ALBAWABA - A man with a grenade or an explosive belt broke into the Iranian consulate in Paris on Friday and is threatening to blow himself up, AFP reported citing French police.

The man, who entered the consulate at about 11 am (0900 GMT), was arrested by police, Reuters reported.

The French police have surrounded the Iranian consulate and are ready to interfere at the consulate's request following a report that a man with explosives has entered the building.

"A witness saw a man enter carrying a grenade or an explosive belt," the source said to AFP.

Videos showing French police surrounding the Iranian consulate in Paris were shared on social media.

This comes hours after reports that Israel launched a missile attack on Iran early Friday, a US official told CNN. However, Israel has not commented yet to confirm nor has Iran identified the source of the attack.
