Mel and Chris Austen, newly-weds from Britain, flew into Dubai yesterday to collect the keys to their AED 2.4 million DAMAC luxury apartment. The couple received a fantastic boost to the beginning of their married life by scooping the grand prize from Mall of the Emirates and DAMAC - the region’s largest private sector master developer.
No strangers to Dubai, the couple were on a visit last year when Chris proposed to Mel. They decided to return to the ‘city where dreams come true’ for their honeymoon. They were gifted AED 30,000 Mall of the Emirates gift vouchers from family and friends as presents and spent the same shopping for their new life together which automatically entered them in the ‘Spend and win’ promotion. Mel and Chris were ecstatic when they received a call announcing them as winners.
During the 45-day festival over 3.3 million people walked through the malls doors with 279,000 shoppers participating in the promotion. A significant proportion of them were tourists. It was the first DSF for the mall and proved incredibly successful with record numbers of visitors and new sales highs throughout the period.
“The mall, which was recently named ‘Retail Destination of the Year’, offers a unique and enticing blend of shopping and leisure options for all the family including over 450 retailers, daily family entertainment via Mall of the Emirates Live, DUCTAC, Ski Dubai and Magic Planet enticing customers to spend even more time in the mall”, said Fuad Sharaf General Manager Mall of the Emirates.
“Mall of the Emirates, the world’s first shopping resort, has established itself as a landmark for regional and international tourists and has played a big role in establishing Dubai’s reputation as the new shopping capital of the world”, added Sharaf.
“We partnered with Mall of the Emirates, the region’s leading mall and the first shopping resort in the world for this unique and rewarding promotion. At DAMAC our focus is to deliver luxury to our customers and we were able to extend the delight to all the customers who shopped at the mall during this DSF period. We would like to congratulate the couple that won DAMAC’s two-bedroom apartment in the award winning Ocean Heights, the 82-storey marvel in Dubai Marina,” said Peter Riddoch, CEO DAMAC Properties.
“Over the years, DAMAC has accelerated the luxury brand development process through our commitment, customer service, world-class quality standards and our unique promotions. We recently announced the winner of our DSF jet promotion where a customer who booked an apartment with us during DSF won a brand new ECLIPSE 500 Jet worth over 5 million dirhams,” concluded Mr. Riddoch.
