Malaysian Government launches Taste of Malaysia promotion in Dubai to develop stronger business ties with establishments across the UAE

A 10 day Taste of Malaysia promotion of food products started in Dubai aiming to develop stronger ties between both countries with traditional Malaysian cultural dance performances and food sampling.

 

The promotion was inaugurated this morning at Carrefour Mall of the Emirates by an official Malaysian delegation headed by The Honorable Datuk Haji Mohd Shafie bin Haji Apdal, Minister of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs in Malaysia.

 

“We are pleased to be in Dubai and to showcase more than 200 food products that were especially selected and developed for the Dubai and UAE market, offering high quality “halal” products that have all underwent extensive testing programs that meet international production standards,” said the minister.

 

He added that the promotion will aim at not only endorsing Small and Medium Malaysian enterprises, but maintain the momentum of business growth and development that has existed between both countries over the past years, as well as open a gateway to the Middle East for Malaysian products.

 

“The UAE and Dubai are very important markets and we are very interested to maintain the growth in trade and business relationship that exists between both our countries, as well as expand our reach to other countries in the Middle East,” The Minister said, adding that his delegation will be conducting business matching sessions with Dubai traders and distributors for the next couple of days to further explore and develop business relations in here.


The Honorable Datuk Haji Mohd Shafie pointed out that the similarities and synergies between both countries are supporting the growth of business and trade relations between both countries.

 

“The Malaysian economy, like the case in Dubai and the UAE, is expanding and developing at a fast rate and we consider this promotion as an ideal platform for direct manufacturers, buyers, agents, investors and business communities in both countries to develop stronger ties considering that people in the UAE are enterprising and innovative,” he said.

 

He also stressed that the promotion will allow more people in Dubai and the UAE to become more acquainted with Malaysia “as an ideal business and leisure destination offering modern and efficient infrastructure and a business friendly environment for both local and foreign direct investment.”

 

The launch of the promotion at Carrefour in Mall of the Emirates will be followed today by several business matching sessions were 32 Malaysian producers will meet with their Dubai counterparts to further discuss ways of enhancing stronger business relations between them.
