Malaysia and Bahrain plan to play a catalytic role in the establishment of an international Islamic money market, said a report by a Malaysian English-language newspaper, the Star.
Citing a statement issued by the Malaysian Ministry of International Trade and Industry (Miti), the Star said that both sides discussed on Friday in Bahrain ways of intensifying cooperation and bilateral trade relationships.
They also shared their countries' experiences in Islamic banking.
Miti was quoted by the Star as saying that “Bahrain Finance and National Economy Minister Abdulla Saif also viewed favorably" the Maybank application to open up a branch office in Manama, the daily said – Albawaba.com
