Most of Syria's Parliament candidates for the next term are from the younger generation with high-ranked educational degrees in a wide-range of fields such as trade and industry.

Candidates took advantage of the Eid Al-Adha celebrations to launch their election campaigns as many refer to their age and profession before introducing themselves, according to Kuwait’s news agency.

Elections for the eighth term are scheduled to take place on March 2 - the first elections since President Bashar Al-Asaad took office in July 2000. The elections are expected to witness a competition between 10,403 candidates, some 3,000 more candidates than in the seventh term, the agency said. Over 10,436,573 citizens are entitled to vote in this election. (Albawaba.com)
