ALBAWABA- During a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron at the White House, U.S. President Donald Trump claimed the war in Ukraine could end "within weeks" and reiterated his commitment to bringing Ukraine out of the conflict.

Trump stated that the U.S. is providing Ukraine with unprecedented support and hinted at an upcoming meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to finalize a rare metals agreement.

Trump confirmed that negotiations on the minerals deal with Kyiv were nearing completion, suggesting that once signed, it would benefit both the U.S. and Ukraine.

He emphasized that the agreement would allow Washington to "get its money back" while aiding Ukraine’s recovery. Trump also asserted that the war would end once the deal was concluded.

Regarding European involvement, Trump expressed no objection to sending European peacekeeping forces to Ukraine and estimated that both Russia and Ukraine had suffered massive casualties, with around 700,000 soldiers killed on each side.

He suggested that resolving the war could lead to direct talks between himself and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Meanwhile, Macron emphasized the need for concrete security guarantees in any ceasefire agreement and reaffirmed Europe's commitment to stability.

He stated that France and the U.S. aim to be "on the right side of history" and that Europe is prepared to be a strong defense partner.
