Macedonian helicopter gunships launched a fresh attack Sunday on Matejce, a village partly controlled by ethnic Albanian rebels in the north of the country, an army spokesman said.
Colonel Blagoja Markovski said the Macedonian army would use "all possible means" to retake the village which the rebels occupied 10 days ago.
Army tanks and artillery had bombarded the village daily without routing the guerrillas.
On May 24, Macedonia launched a fresh offensive to try to reclaim a dozen villages in the Kumanovo region, but only managed to gain control of two, Baksince and Lojane -- SKOPJE (AFP)
