Three Libyan soldiers died Wednesday in clashes with Islamists in the city of Benghazi, according to Agence France Presse.

"We have received the bodies of three soldiers and seven more wounded," said Khalil Gouider, spokesman for the Bengahzi Medical Centre told AFP.

The Rafallah Al Sahati Islamist group allegedly attacked an army convoy that was en route to a polling station for the country's parliamentary elections in the southern district of Al Houari.

However, the group's Facebook page said that there were no casualties and that the convoy has withdrawn from the fight.

Witnesses also told AFP that renegade general Khalifa Haftar's warplanes bombed Rafallah Al Sahati's headquarters Wednesday as part of his anti-Islamist campaign.

No other violence was reported in Benghazi Wednesday as Libyans headed to the polls for the nationwide parliamentary elections.
