Libya’s new parliament held a swearing-in ceremony for the 10-member parliament Sunday, AP reports.

The ceremony comes a day after the Libyan government made a plea for international aid to fight against Islamist militias who have taken over many cities in Libya in the past months, according to AP.

The current government, led by Abdullah al-Thinni, has little influence outside the city of Tobruk.

“From this podium, I say that turning a blind eye to terrorism in Libya is deemed unacceptable,” parliament leader Ageila Saleh Eissa said while addressing the U.N. General Assembly.

The international community has yet to send troops to the increasingly unstable North African country.
