Libya officially asked France and Italy Thursday to intervene urgently to stop the Israeli offensive in the West Bank, an official source said.
The demand was handed to the French and Italian ambassadors in Tripoli, Jean-Jacques Beaussou and Claudio Pacifico respectively, after they were summoned by Libyan Minister for African Unity Ali Abdul Salam Triki, the source added, according to AFP.
Triki called upon the two European countries to "take on their responsibilities and stop the Israeli aggression and massacres against the Palestinians," the source claimed.
Tripoli has initiated contacts with countries holding permanent seats in the United Nations Security Council with the aim of bringing an end to the Israeli military push in the West Bank launched on March 29th, the official source added. (Albawaba.com)
