On Tuesday, sectarian clashes broke out in Tripoli, northern Lebanon, and three were killed, Reuters reported.
Grenades and heavy gunfire rang throughout the town, with snipers positioned in civilian apartment blocks.
According to security forces and Reuters, 60 people, including civilians, have been wounded in Tripoli over the last four days, as the city is rocked by sectarian violence fuelled by the Syrian civil war.
The recent battle between troops loyal to Syrian President Bashar Assad, joined by Lebanese Shiite Hezbollah militans, and rebel forces for the Syrian border town of Qusair, is said to have been the major stimulus for this particular violent outbreak in Tripoli.
"Sunni's in Lebanon mostly sympathise with the Sunni-led insurrection against Assad, whose minority Alawite sect is an offshoot of Shiite Islam", Reuters wrote.
Violence has wreacked havoc in Tripoli over the last four days, and the current death toll lies at nine.
