Additional Syrian forces left Lebanon on Thursday as Lebanon's opposition accused the Syrian-backed prime minister of refusing to step down to pave the way for elections.
According to The AP, Syrian vehicles drove toward the border overnight from two sites in the eastern Bekaa Valley.
In the political deadlock, lawmaker Ghattas Khoury accused the caretaker government of Prime Minister Omar Karami and its Syrian supporters of seeking to avoid elections. Khoury said they fear they will lose them.
Khoury urged Karami to give up trying to form a new Cabinet and let the president appoint somebody else to form a government and organize elections as the constitution provides.
