A military court sentenced 29 people to prison terms ranging from one month to three years Saturday after convicting them of collaboration or contact with Israel during its 18-year occupation of southern Lebanon, according to The Associated Press.
According to the AP, four defendants received three-year sentences for collaboration with the Israeli-backed South Lebanon Army, while 25 convicted of varying degrees of collaboration -- and in some cases simply of visiting Israel -- got shorter sentences.
Charges against two other defendants were dropped, the court said in a judgment posted on its bulletin board, cited by the agency.
In a commentary by the Lebanese Hizbollah, which spearheaded resistance against Israeli occupation, on its website (www.moqawama.com), the group said the trials have revealed more and more the crimes committed by Israel and its proxy militia against the Lebanese especially at the Khiam detaining center which was run by the SLA.
