Lebanon called upon Canada on Tuesday to review its decision imposing a total ban on the Hizbollah.
The Lebanese Foreign Minister's secretary general, Mohammed Issa, issued the request to Canada's charge d'affairs in Beirut, Lajos Arandas, telling him the reasons Canada gave for the blacklisting were unjustified.
Issa said Hizbollah had handed the ministry a tape recording of a speech by its leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, which had been used by Canada to justify the ban, according to KUNA news agency.
Moreover, Issa told Arandas "the translation used by Canada as a basis for its decision to declare Hizbollah illegal was faulty," the official said.
In his speech, Nasrallah said, "If the Israelis destroy the Al-Aqsa mosque the Muslims and the people of Palestine will destroy the Zionist entity with the blood of martyrs." (Albawaba.com)
