The Lebanese foreign ministry is considering action after receiving complaints from the Lebanese community in Australia about ambassador, Michel Bitar, reported the Daily Star newspaper, citing Foreign Minister Mahmoud Hammoud.
Speaking on the first day of his return to office following a month-long sick leave, Hammoud said the complaints were relayed to him by Minister of Public Works and Transport Najib Mikati, who returned from an official visit to Australia earlier this week.
The Lebanese community reportedly told Mikati that Bitar, who resides in the Australian capital Canberra, was “slacking off” in his diplomatic duties.
Lebanese said they preferred to deal with consuls Mohammed Harakeh and Tannous Aoun, who are posted in Sydney and Melbourne, and whom the expatriates deemed more efficient, the paper said – Albawaba.com
