Two Lebanese men with alleged links to terrorist groups have been arrested, the Lebanese army said in a statement Thursday.

It said the arrests took place Wednesday evening.

The Army said Hamzeh Matar was arrested in the vicinity of the northeastern border town Arsal. He was accused of links to terrorist groups and for his role in the August battle in Arsal between the Lebanese Army and Islamist militants.

Abdel-Nasser Deqqo was arrested in the Bekaa Valley town of Saadnayel on charges of stealing cars and rigging them with explosives in Arsal, according to the statement.
