A roadside bomb targeted a police car in southeastern Baghdad, killing three policemen and injuring two others, a police official said. The attack reported during morning rush hour near a gas station in the Rustomiyah neighborhood.
At least 78 people were reported killed or found dead in Iraq on Sunday, including 41 bullet-riddled bodies discovered in the capital. The U.S. military also said two troops died by roadside bombs in Baghdad.
Separately, the Iraqi army arrested 50 suspects and seized some 2,000 rockets in a raid in a predominantly Shiite area 45 miles northeast of Baghdad, Defense Ministry spokesman Maj. Gen. Ibrahim Shaker said, according to the AP. The suspects were detained late Saturday.
