At least 80 dead in Iran tanker truck accident

At least 80 people were killed and 102 others injured when a tanker truck, carrying fuel, caught fire on Zahedan-Bam road in the southeastern Zahedan, Sistan and Balouchestan province and engulfed 6 passenger buses and another tanker in fire Thursday night, IRNA reported.

Tabatabaei said those injured were taken to hospitals in Zahedan. 

 

Governor General of Zahedan Heidar Ali-Nouraei has earlier told IRNA a tanker, carrying gas oil which collided with another tanker, carrying tar and exploded, and destroyed six buses, a building and a light post near police station.  

 

Deputy provincial police head Mohammad Arab said police have launched an investigation to establish the cause of the accident. (Albawaba.com)
