Suicide bombers killed at least 46 people in a series of attacks in Iraq on Monday, including one in a Baghdad restaurant near the heavily fortified Green Zone compound that killed three, Iraqi police said.
Police in Baghdad said a suicide bomber had walked into the restaurant near the Green Zone in the mixed area of the Karradet Mariam neighbourhood. They said at least 7 people were killed and 16 were hurt.
Three suicide bombers launched attacks in different parts of Iraq on Monday, killing at least 39 people and wounding nearly 85 on Monday, police and politicians said. A suicide car bomb struck a restaurant, killing at least 19 people and wounding 35, police said. The attack occurred on a highway near Ramadi, a city that is 70 miles west of Baghdad, a policeman said.
Near the northern city of Mosul, a suicide car bomb killed 10 people and injured 20 in an attack on the office of a Kurdish political party, police said, according to Reuters.
In the city of Baquba, a suicide car bomber rammed his vehicle into a police building, killing 10 people and injuring 10 others, police said.
A parked car bomb also went off outside the Iranian Embassy in Baghdad, killing one civilian, and a drive-by shooting wounded two guards at Tunisia's Embassy in the capital, police said.
