At least 34 people were killed Friday in clashes across Syria. According to the opposition, the unrest reached now the second largest city in the country, Aleppo, which is considered the economic center of Syria. Local reported shots in some quarters of the city.
Fighting took place also in the south in the province of Daraa, according to London-based exiled activists. Several pro-government soldiers have been killed there.
Activists called for nationwide protests today. This was to mark the 30th anniversary of the massacre of Hama, which was carried out by the regime of Hafez Assad, the father of the current president.
Meanwhile, in the UN Security Council Russia expressed reservations over an amended draft resolution over the Syria crisis.
