In three separate attacks targeting Iraqi security forces, at least 20 people killed in Baghdad on Thursday, officials said. In another attack late on Wednesday at list nine policemen were killed.
One of Thursday's assault was carried out by a man who slipped into an army recruitment center with explosives. The attack in central Baghdad, killed at least 11 people, police said. The explosion occurred at about 8 a.m., a police officer said. He said at least six people were injured in the blast. The center is located near Baghdad's main train station.
Two suicide car bombs targeting police patrols went off in neighborhoods of western Baghdad on Thursday, killing a total of nine policemen, an official said.
The worst attack reported at 6:45 a.m. at a gathering point for police patrols in Al-Amil area of western Baghdad, killing eight policemen, injuring two and destroying two vehicles, said police Maj. Mousa Abdul Karim.
According to The AAP, the other suicide car bomb exploded about 15 minutes earlier in the nearby Al-Gazaliya area, killing one policeman, wounding six and destroying four of their cars, said Karim.
Late on Wednesday, a suicide car bomber attacked an Iraqi army checkpoint in Baghdad. There were conflicting reoprts of the casualties. Police said nine soldiers were killed and six wounded, along with 10 civilians. The U.S. military said 15 soldiers were killed.
