Sixty four leading Muslim clerics and key Islamist figures issued Wednesday a statement condeming the terrorist attacks on and urging the US and the media to act wisely and not to pass prejudicial judgements on the Muslims and the Islamic faith.
“The leaders of the Islamist groups who have been horrified by the devastating attacks in the USA on Tuesday and the death of innocent civilians, would like to express their deep heartfelt sorrow and pain and denounce vigorously these acts which violate all human and Islamic values,” said the statement, a copy of which was received by Albawaba.com.
“Our condemnation of such terrorist acts stem from the Islamic teachings, which prohibit all types of aggression against innocent people,” it added.
“The leaders also denounce the foreign media’s hasty campaigns against Muslims without waiting until investigations reveal who the actual perpetrators are.”
