A consortium including Bank Hapoalim, Compaq Israel, the Israel Corporation, Internet Gold, and Ofek-The New Dimension has postponed the scheduled launching of a B2B venture. Some of the partners are likely to withdraw their support for the venture, according to a report by Israel Business Arena.
The e-commerce marketplace, whose founding was announced in September 2000, was to have been linked to the global e-commerce network of Commerce One, which is represented in Israel by Compaq. The network is one of the world's largest B2B e-commerce communities. The consortium announced in September that the completely Hebrew language marketplace would go on the air "in the coming months,” said the report.
The planned site was scheduled to be one of the largest of its kind in Israel. As far as known, millions of shekels have been invested in the venture to date, said IBA.
It appears that the reason for the project's delay is the wish of some of the partners in the venture to reconsider their involvement, said the report, adding that talks about the future of the project are currently taking place – Albawaba.com
