ALBAWABA - The US National Security Advisor, Jake Sullivan, stated that talks are still in progress for a possible cease-fire in the Gaza Strip.
There have been talks of a truce for the past 142 days, despite Israel's continuous bombardment on the Gaza Strip. According to Sullivan, who spoke to US media outlets, Israel, Egypt, Qatar, and the US have come to an early agreement on the core elements of a temporary ceasefire agreement for the Gaza Strip.
Underscoring the need for indirect discussions between Qatar, Egypt, and Hamas, Sullivan emphasized that the potential ceasefire agreement is still in the negotiation stage. He voiced hope that a final and comprehensive resolution to the issue will be reached soon.
Sullivan also noted that Israel has not yet informed US President Joe Biden of its intentions regarding a military effort to take out Refah. He underlined that before the Refah operation is carried out any further, a plan for protecting people must be put into action.
