A huge crane used to demolish an old building collapsed in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday, without causing injuries, reported the Gulf News.

The incident occurred behind Zakher Hotel on the Najda Road extension.

A worker at the site said the crane cracked at the base and fell on the road.

It was sheer good fortune that no traffic or people were around when the crane fell and blocked the road for more than an hour, he told the paper.

"I was working on the other side of the building when we heard a loud bang. We ran behind the building to see what had happened. The crane, which is more than 30 meters long, was lying on the road." – Albawaba.com
