Lamcy Plaza brings in the spirit of folklore during DSS 2008 with Planet Folk Dancers
Lamcy Plaza, the country’s most popular family shopping destination, celebrated the DSS festivities at the mall with an exuberant display of traditional music and dance from different regions of Russia. The dancers performed on fast uneven rhythms on music played on traditional instruments such as the balalaika, garmoshka, contrabass balalaika and bayan. The recreational folk dance involved dancing in short lines, open circles or closed circles with colorful stage costumes. The ensemble also presented colorful acts conjuring up brilliant images and fiery emotions of legendary dancers and impresarios.
Commenting on the show by the Russian folk dancers, Mathews Thomas, Marketing Manager, Lamcy Plaza said, “The Russian folk dance provided an exhilarating experience to the shoppers of the mall. The folk dancers performed some Russian folk tales and fairy tales, showing glimpses of the country’s old heritage and traditions.”
The Russian folk dance involves steps that range from the very simple traditional village dances usually based on a walking step to very complex dances with fast, intricate steps. The energy levels varied considerably, but the dances that were fast, energetic with multiple steps were ones that hooked the audience.
Apart from this magnificent performance, other activities lined up at Lamcy Plaza during the season include the performance by the Acapella Group. The Group will perform during the evenings at the mall from July 3 – 6.
Lamcy Plaza is on a mall-wide sale with discounts up to 70 per cent. Also lined up during DSS 2008 are fun-filled family entertainment activities. Apart from the attractive discounts on brands, any shopper who spends AED 200/- and above will be eligible to participate in a weekly raffle draw, where by five winners could win AED 100,000/- each, every week. The weekly raffle is organized by Dubai Shopping Malls Group (DSMG), of which Lamcy Plaza is a key member. Shoppers can walk away with cash prizes every week through out the ten week DSS extravaganza.
