Kuwait withdrew its ambassador in Baghdad Monday, according to Reuters.
Kuwait leadership cited the deteriorating security situation throughout Iraq as the main reason for their decision.
"We told our ambassador and diplomatic team (to leave) more than a week ago ... This is because of the security situation in Iraq. When we feel the situation has become stable and normal again they will go back," said Khaled Al Jarallah, Kuwaiti Foreign Ministry Undersecretary.
Baghdad has been fighting a growing Sunni militant insurgency throughout the country, which escalated dramatically over the past month with jihadist Islamic State of Iraq and Greater Syria (ISIS) taking control over the city of Mosul and the country’s main oil refinery.
