Kuwait's Information Minister Mohammed Abulhassan tendered his resignation to Kuwaiti Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmed Al-Sabah on Sunday, according to KUNA news agency.
This was done ahead of his "grilling" by three parliament members Monday, the official news agency added.
In his resignation letter the minister said "After thoughtful consideration of the matter I hereby tender my resignation as Minister of Information not to avoid national duty and not in fear of political questioning, but rather to shield my naiton from plunging into quarrels and political bickering that would turn out to be a loss for all of us." Abulhassan, nevertheless, expressed readiness to continue serving his nation in other public service deemed appropriate by Sheikh Sabah.
Kuwaiti Information Minister Abulhassan is the emirate's only Shiite Muslim cabinet member.
