The Kuwaiti cabinet discussed Sunday the establishment of an authority for civil protection, designed to protect people, properties and natural resources from fires and disasters during times of peace and war, reported the official Kuwait news agency (KUNA) on Sunday.
Deputy Prime Minister Mohammad Sharar, briefing a weekly cabinet session, said the proposed public authority for civil protection would encompass ministries of health and interior, and the general fire service directorate.
The authority "aims at overcoming obstacles derailing execution of civil defense plans," said Sharar.
The authority, to be chaired by the interior minister, will coordinate efforts of the health and interior ministries and civil defense to provide ultimate protection for "citizens, expatriates, public and private properties from dangers of fires, disasters and wars, recovering ill-fated people, secure safety of transportation and communications and protecting natural resources in peace and wars and emergencies," he said – Albawaba.com
