ALBAWABA- US President Joe Biden has revealed that Saudi Arabia is seeking full recognition of Israel in exchange for American guarantees of military support and permission to build a civilian nuclear facility.
"I received a call from the Saudis; they want full recognition of Israel in exchange for America guaranteeing that they will be provided with weapons if they are attacked by a nearby Arab country, and allowing them to build a civilian nuclear facility," Biden stated in a recent interview with NBC.
Early in January this year, Saudi Arabia's ambassador to the UK, Prince Khalid bin Bandar, stated that the kingdom is interested in normalizing relations with Israel after the war in Gaza.
Prince Khalid told the BBC that a pact was "close" before the kingdom paused US-brokered talks following Hamas's deadly attacks on Israel on October 7.
He reaffirmed Saudi Arabia's belief in establishing ties with Israel despite the "deplorable" casualty figures in Gaza but insisted that it would not "come at the cost of the Palestinian people."
It is worth noting that Joe Biden's comments come amid ongoing violence in Gaza, where Israeli occupation forces have carried out a series of airstrikes on Nuseirat UNRWA-run schools and Mawasi in Rafah.
These attacks have resulted in hundreds of innocent Palestinians being killed and wounded.
There are also reports of Israeli forces using internationally prohibited thermal weapons and US-made destructive bombs in these assaults.
