ALBAWABA - Haaretz reported on Monday that a Knesset committee approved a bill proposed by far-right Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir that proposes the death penalty for Palestinian prisoners.
It is worth noting that Ben-Gvir's proposal was given the green light by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, according to Israel's hostage affairs coordinator.
Israeli website Jerusalem Post mentioned that the statements came during the Israeli minister's discussion and vote to advance the death penalty bill ahead of its first reading in the plenum during a discussion at the Knesset’s National Security Committee.
Israel's Knesset advanced on Monday a controversial bill that would impose mandatory death sentences on Palestinian prisoners who are accused by Tel Aviv courts of carrying out "terrorist" attacks.
The proposed law would allow courts to impose the death penalty on Palestinians convicted of carrying out "nationalistically motivated murders" of Israelis.
