Moroccan King Mohammed VI began an official visit to the Saudi kingdom on Tuesday within the framework of a tour of Jordan, Syria, Qatar and Kuwait, it was reported in Jeddah.

Moroccan minister of external affairs and cooperation, Mohammed bin Issa, said in a statement upon arrival, that the high-level delegation tour coincided with crucial regional developments, namely the Israeli aggression on the Palestinians.

He expressed regret that the government in Israel had failed to respond positively to Arab peace initiatives, and affirmed that the Saudi peace plan constituted a basis for reaching a political settlement to the Middle East crisis, KUNA reported.

This tour marks the third visit of the Moroccan king to Saudi Arabia since his accession to the throne in 1999.

The king is accompanied by a top-level delegation, including the foreign minister and the minister of justice.

Diplomatic sources have conveyed that the Moroccan King's discussions with Saudi Crown Prince Abdullah and Saudi officials are expected to deal with international and regional developments, in addition to bilateral relations and trade exchange, KUNA added.

Furthermore, talks are to focus on the Middle East situation and the ongoing Israeli violence against the Palestinians, in addition to the issue of unifying the Arab stand and strengthening joint Arab action. (Albawaba.com)
