Princess Fadiya was laid to rest on Saturday in a historic Cairo mosque next to her father and deposed king of Egypt Faruk I. She died in Switzerland, on December 28 at the age of 59, according to AFP.

Faruk I was toppled and exiled after a military coup that established the republican regime in 1952. He died in Rome in 1965.

Princess Fadiya’s body was repatriated overnight Friday from Zurich and taken to the Al-Rifai Mosque to be buried next to her father and her grandfather, King Fuad. The Shah of Iran is also buried in this mosque.

Her brother Prince Ahmed Fuad, her sister Princess Ferial, her husband and two sons came aboard the same plane to attend the funeral. (Albawaba.com)
