Kim Yong Nam, North Korea's former head of state, dies aged 97

ALBAWABA - North Korea announced on Tuesday the death of Kim Yong Nam, its former nominal head of state and a lifelong loyalist of the country’s ruling family.

The Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) shared that Kim Yong Nam, 97, who led the country’s parliament for more than two decades and served as a senior diplomat, passed away on Monday.

KNCA also detailed that the former North Korean politician died due to multiple organ failure related to cancer.

"Comrade Kim Yong-nam, an old-generation revolutionary who left extraordinary achievements in the development history of our party and country, wrapped up his noble life at the age of 97," the KCNA revealed.

It further mentioned that President Kim Jong Un visited Kim Yong Nam early on Tuesday to express deep condolences over his passing.
