Saudi businessman Hassan Ali al-Sanad has been released with the help of Egyptian security after being kidnapped over a week ago, al-Arabiya reported.
The Saudi ambassador to Egypt confirmed Thursday that he had been safely released.
Sanad was abducted by a masked gang on April 26 as he was leaving his factory outside of Cairo on his way to Cairo International Airport.
“The businessman was with his driver heading to Al-Suwais Governorate when his car was stopped by an armed gang, which dragged him and his driver out of the car and bundled them into a private car and whisked them away,” said Col. Mahmoud Khalil, director of the al-Ismailiyah Police Department.
Saudi Arabia last year alerted its citizens to be cautious conducting businses in Egypt after a Saudi woman and her daughter were killed in Egypt in an apparently financially-motivated murder.
