The Moroccan athlete, Khalid Khannouchi is seeking to obtain American citizenship, as it will enable him to compete in US Olympic men's marathon, which will take place on 7th of may in Pittsburgh.

Khannouchi's lawyer told the AFP that the world marathon record-holder is standing a "very good chance" of getting the American citizen, which is expected within a week according to the lawyer's expectation.

The champion finished third in the London Marathon 11 days ago, and aggravated a sore right hamstring and sprained right ankle in the race. He is recovering in Ireland with a trainer.

If Khannouchi fails to get the citizenship, he would be a formidable figure in the 10,000 meters at July's US Olympic athletics trials – (Several Sources)
