Kaymer Enters History Books in Munich
History was made in Munich on Sunday, when Martin Kaymer became the first German to win the BMW International Open. The 23-year-old, who finished second in the 2008 Dubai Desert Classic behind Tiger Woods, held off Anders Hansen in a play off at the Golfclub München Eichenried.

Kaymer, the winner of the Abu Dhabi Championship earlier in the year, started the final day six shots clear but struggled, putting two balls in the lake at the 11th,  finishing level with Hansen on 15-under par 273, forcing the play off. English trio Paul Casey, John Bickerton and Mark Foster tied for third on 13 under par 275.

During the tournament, Emirates, as Official Carrier, hosted a series of spectator-driven activities such as a ‘Charity-Hole-in-One’ competition which helps support local SOS-Kinderdorf children charity projects.

Emirates was the Official Carrier of the BMW International Open for the sixth successive year. The airline’s portfolio of tournaments also includes the Dubai Desert Classic, BMW Asian Open, Malaysian Open, The Hong Kong Open, The Austrian Open, Volvo Asian Masters, Hero Honda Open, Australian PGA Championship and the Dubai Ladies Masters.
