ALBAWABA - As she prepares to tour the country to secure support that can power her to achieve victory, Kamala Harris is expected to name her running mate and next potential VP as early as today.

The list of potential candidates included several names, including North Carolina and Michigan governors, who announced they would not accept the nominations in case offered.

The presumed Democratic nominee for US president, Harris, is considering a few contenders. After the decision is made, her choice for vice president will travel with her to several key battleground states in the US before the Democratic National Convention takes place later this month.

In a post on X, Harris wrote: "At this moment, we face a choice between two visions for our nation: one focused on the future and the other on the past... This campaign is about people coming together, fueled by the love of country, to fight for the best of who we are,".

The announcement is expected to be made before Harris embarks on her rally Tuesday evening alongside the mystery nominee in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania's largest city, AFP reported.

In an effort to win back the Black and Hispanic votes that the Democrats had been losing, Harris will go on a tour across the southern states of Arizona, Nevada, Georgia, and North Carolina later this week.

A month ago, Trump was in full control of the race. He had established a substantial lead in swing state polls following Biden's dismal debate, where the current president was criticized for his poor performance, leading some to question his mental state.

The most prominent name to be Harris's running mate in the ongoing race to the White House. During a recent visit to Philadelphia, Harris referred to Shapiro as a "great partner to the president and me".

Shapiro became the third Jewish governor to serve as governor in Pennsylvania after being elected in a landslide victory in 2022.
